Cherokee Trip Update 1

Redeemer VB gathered the troops at 7:00 this morning at Erin Strickland’s house to caravan up to Cherokee. Traffic was very light and the journey was uneventful except for a heavy rainstorm.  After stopping a couple times for some much needed snacks, we all made it safely to Cherokee NC around 5:00 pm.  This camp is different from last time, positioned at the foot of the mountains, right next to the river, offering a gorgeous view.  Unfortunately the heavy rainstorm has made the campsite a bit squishy and wet, but other than that, the cabins are comfortable and the company enjoyable.  Redeemer Atlanta arrived shortly thereafter and then a delicious dinner of chicken and alfredo pasta was served thanks to Erin Strickland and the Durhams.  As the sun began to set after eating dinner, folks remained outside their cabins chatting and playing cards, preparing for the ministry work of the week ahead.  We already have so much to be thankful for and there are a couple prayer requests that apply for the next few days.

Prayer requests:

  • Pray that despite weather forecasts that there are little to no thunderstorms
  • Pray that the fields will be in good condition for soccer
  • Pray for general safety and health of those on the trip
  • Pray that the hearts of the kids we will be ministering to will be open and ready to receive the gospel and that any obstacles that would keep them from doing so would disappear
